Is it painful?

Acupuncture should not be painful.

If you’re very sensitive, a Japanese needle technique can be used where the needles barely enter the body.

What does it feel like?

In treatment we are trying to achieve sensation to indicate that Qi is moving. Patients describe this as many different things; tingle, tremor, heat, twitch, ache, spark, heaviness, itch.

What should I wear?

Wear loose comfortable clothes and minimal jewellery.

Should I eat before my session?

Eat 2hrs prior. Avoid caffeine. No alcohol or recreational drugs.

What does my practitioner need to know?

To get the most from your session list all your symptoms, past & ongoing injuries, major life events and any current medications.

How will i feel after?

Don’t plan your treatment into a very hectic day i.e. before important events or a long drive. It’s common to experience tiredness or an increase in energy after a session. Having adequate rest after your treatment will be beneficial.
